This document explains what should be done to adapt your current BBS
to use a new installation of VADV32. These are not step-by-step
instructions but a set of guidelines you should follow.
|
These are some guidelines to follow when converting
an existing dial-up BBS to a telnet-only setup.
-
A new installation of VADV32 already
contains all of the settings you need
within VADV32.
-
Make sure you turn off any auto-loading
batch files that may attempt to load
your old dial-up nodes.
-
Update your door configurations so they
are setup to use a fossil driver on
COM1.
|
These are some guidelines to follow when adding
telnet to an existing dial-up BBS.
-
A new installation of VADV32 may
change some settings we need to continue
to use dial-up nodes.
-
Go to VADV32's configuration. Set the
number of telnet nodes to your preference.
Click the nodes tab. Disable "Telnet-Only
System."
-
Go to VADV's main configuration and set
the number of active channels to the
number of telnet nodes you want plus the
number of dial-up nodes.
-
Go to the channel configuration. You will
have to "move" your dial-up nodes to a
node number after the telnet nodes. This will
allow VADV32 to handle maintenance and other
parts of the BBS.
-
You will have to update your door
configurations and move your
dial-up nodes as well as changing
the current setup to use a fossil
driver on COM1.
