Re: Conference Traffic > The main flaw with BBS systems is the localized style that it offers. The offering of a Central Hub in which all users > connect and can Chat is why (i think) that AOL dominated. The chat system > offered people the reality of chatting directly to their friends, or othe I used to log onto an Excalibur BBS in Baltimore as my internet on ramp. The Excalibur board had a great AOL type chatroom and we used to log on Tuesday nights and have chat sessions. The file downloads looked like AOL's format too. What was even better was minimizing the bbs and using my Eurora email client, my mIRC or my Netscape web browser. It was the bbs that was the onramp and it worked well. |
