I'm trying to work at it now. But I have a few problems here and there that I solve as time goes on. For instance, my internet mail only works for "outgoing". My "incomming" does not work right now. Due to the lack of logs thourgh dyndns it is hard to see even if they are relaying messages to me or not. But with some time, and a little luck, I'll get it to work. But if everyone was to run a bbs "it would probably be called somethiing different" a totally new system would have to be developed along with a new set of updated standards that all new system developers would agree to follow. Here's an example of how this new bbs would work: If I'm a small business man currently, I have two choices for my online business. I can set up a server like Microsoft's Small business Server and spend hours configuring web, e-mail, ftp, my online store, etc.. After all this, I would be lucky to have time to run my business. It's too time consuming. Or I can go with a 3rd party like Tucows to manage my e-mail accounts and my online store etc.. for me. For a price of course. What I'm saying is a 3rd way. A person installs Windows "easy", then they install a "bbs" or you can call it a "business suite" which takes about 2 clicks of the mouse. This is Similar to the setup of Synchronet currently. Once the software is installed, you simply install your plug-ins you need like your web online store, web dating service, or whatever you want. You have a low maint system that you can host locally and you don't have to pay anyone to manage your computers for you which means less headaches and more profit.. I'm sure there's alot of people out there like me that want a "blog" and a simple online store that uses paypal to sell some old collectibles and stuff and do not want to pay someone else to sell/advertise them. Like "e-bay" Currently, you can install a CMS, like E107, that does this. But they do not have the networking of old BBS's. Why is the old BBS networking so important? Because with a little tweaking and updates it can be extremely powerful and level the playing field when it comes to big corporate sites like google, yahoo, etc...
