   Europe forecast - November 29, 2024
   Thundery showers southeast
   Settled continent, windy north

   Issued: 0430hrs Thursday 28th November 2024
   Duty forecaster: Dan Graves

Settled and plentiful sun across central Europe, sandwiched between
active weather in the Aegean Sea and the north.

   Friday
A mix of clouds and sun will dominate the Iberian peninsula with
showers along Portugal's west coast into northwest Spain. A fine sunny
day will prevail on the Beleric islands.
Rainy and snowy remnants from Thursday's weak storm will push south
from northern Croatia and Serbia to North Macedonia, western Bulgaria
and Albania. To the east, widespread clouds likely all day. Low
pressure will begin developing over this regions, pushing a band of
rain southward through Italy, with light rains reaching Sardinia and
Corsica. The rains will graze the Greek west coast, though inland
likely to receive only clouds. The rain will stretch northeast through
Romania and migrate east bringing a period of light to moderate rain.
Light showers, some wintery, will follow in the wake of this rain band.
Switzerland, Austria, northern Italy, and France will see a fine day
with plentiful sun as high pressure sits atop Germany. Dry with sunny
spells likely in Germany, Poland, and the Baltics with a light breeze.
Light showers, some wintery, may linger in southern Poland, Czechia,
Slovakia, and Hungary. More widespread cloud likely to prevail to the
   east and north.
Winds increase across the UK and the North Sea into Scandinavia. Expect
showery rain on Britain's west coast, stronger in the north. Norway's
coastal mountains will see snowfall through much of the day, while
Sweden, Finland, and Denmark will see mostly cloudy skies with
   occasional light showers.

   Saturday
A light southwesterly Atlantic breeze will maintain clouds over
Portugal and western Spain, eastern Spain enjoying plentiful sunshine
with scattered clouds. High pressure in eastern Europe will stretch
sunny conditions through eastern France, Germany, and the Alps all the
way to Poland, giving central Europe a fine, settled day. Though mostly
cloudy, there will be potential for sunny spells further east in
Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania, a blanket of clouds further north.
The Balearics and Sardinia and Corsica will have a sunny day with
scattered clouds. Further east, a low pressure system will park over
the Adriatic Sea between southern Italy and Greece all day. Expect
strong winds and plentiful rain in southeast Italy, Greece, and the
Aegean Sea, some quite heavy with thunder. The Balkan countries will
also experience higher winds. Snow is likely to fall on upland regions.
Southern Hungary and Romania will receive some of this weather, but
further north will experience more settled conditions with sunbreaks.
The British Isles and Scandinavia will see higher winds from the
southwest and west, respectively, and mostly cloudy skies. Coasts and
mountains facing the wind will see showers throughout the day, heaviest
on the Norwegian coast. Southern Sweden and Denmark mostly fine with
occasional sunbreaks. A band of rain and snow will push across central
Sweden and southern Finland, lingering longer in Finland.
