You could try lowering the priority to LOW.... Hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE,
bring up your task manager, go to Processes and right click on BOINC,
and there should be an option there to lower the priority..

But the problem is that I DID do that before and it STILL ate up too
much CPU, which caused me to drop it.. The original program they used
was MUCH better (used about 25-35% of CPU)
