I'm not sure if it their fault that they do not know much about BBSing. Atleast when I first got involved (1992), your main OS was Windows 3.1 and you still relied on DOS a whole lot. It was almost a necessity that you learned the way of DOS, which almost all BBSs used. So, what I'm saying is that when you called your first BBS, a lot of the things you saw looked somewhat familiar. Nowdays, the kids that are just learning about BBSs grew up when there was Windows95, OS/2, etc where everything is graphical. A lot of them probably never really needed to use DOS. So, when they call their first time, instead of point and click, they have to use a *keyboard*?! Maybe if BBSs evolved into something noticably different from the web, but still easy to use and learn.. ah, heck with that, I'm old school.. VBBS is my choice Steve |
