Yeah, he did omit two of the critical modules required to rewrite the
software.  However, those modules are mostly support routines and low-level
modem access routines, if I recall correctly, which would have to be
reweritten anyway if the software were to be ported to Windows.

When I suggested writing a clone, I wasn't thinking about actually porting
the existing VBBS/VA code, since it is written in basic and wouldn't even be
able to take advantage of some of the newer features in VisualBasic.  I was
thinking more along the lines of using the source code as a guide to write a
new BBS program that was similar to VBBS/VA, but was its own entity entirely.
Why limit yourself by porting the VBBS code, when you could write a program
that is every bit as good as VBBS, at least script-compatible, and could have
new features, like better internet integration/web-based interface, etc?
