I would like to retire on 2/2/24. I'm stashing cash now as I have three big
retirement funds and I would like to not take any distributions for a year
because combined, my wife and I earned too much money last year and took a
tax hit. She has her own business and has to file quarterly, not to mention
she has a sort of "malpractice insurance" because she is an architect. In any
event, my problem is that the infrastructure of the house is ongoing; things
fail. We are almost done replacing all the windows and we have replaced the
major appliances. The roof has been replaced yet we will need to replace the
aging boiler and would like to add a heat pump. I might have to postpone my
retirement date by a few months to get this done before meeting my "jumping
off" point.
