It sounds like a hearty welcome to the world of healthcare IT is in order. Be
thankful that who you are working for sounds like they are taking
HIPAA/HITECH regulations seriously. It will save you some sleepless nights
and sweating through audits hoping that no one is getting fined, fired, or
sent to jail. A lot of smaller practices skirt the regulations just as much
as they think they can get away with because compliance is very expensive and
providers end up spending 2 to 3 times more on paperwork than they do seeing
patients.
