U> First--If nobody here seems to like Hootie and the Blowfish, how did U> they sell 100 million albums? Oh, didn't you know? Your band can only be considered cool if you can't sell any CD's, and the only people who know about you are a few poser-loser pre- pubescent punk-wannabe's. U> Second--yes, all their songs do sound the same, but does that make any U> difference about how good the songs themselves are? Right, like Green Day is this super versatile band who can play any style of music! Good bands have their own sound--that's how you can tell who it is even if you've never heard the song before! I really don't get this weird attitude: it's like the unpopular bands who play like they first picked up their instruments just last month, who's songs really *do* all sound the same, and who can't get a contract and national distribution are "cool," but bands who have put years of practice into their instruments, and who are versatile and original, and who's music is popular with millions of people all over the world--they're sell-outs?!?! I don't get it at all. I guess the point is just to like something that nobody else likes. "Oh, I'm such a rebel! I like depressing lyrics about doom, gloom, drugs, suicide, or anything that supports my loser attitude and my excuses for not acheiving any level of personal responsibility or success, and I support loser bands that have no talent, and just to prove how different I am, I dress, act, and talk just like all my loser friends, and listen to the same loser music!" Give me a break. |
