Did you say you poll and get nothing, then when you deliver a mail packet, you
get all the backlog of mail?

If so, you'll hub should look through the logs to see what happens when you poll
and get nothing and what happens after you deliver a packet.

It may be something as simple as a stale lock file, that doesnt get examined
until you deliver a mail packet, at which the tosser deletes it and processes
any backlog it had...
