Regarding a non working wife.....I didn't go out and get a job because money
can never take the place of me being there.....irrelevant......
Twenty years ago my husband and I sat down and made a joint decision that I
would ALWAYS be there for the kids.  No matter what, we would manage on his
paycheck, even if it meant he worked longer hours.  I gave up a career and
have never regretted it.  However if the marriage goes on the rocks, he isn't
necessarily screwed, the woman is because no matter what stage of the game
when it happens, guess who has to start at the bottom?  Not him!
