I am going to guess most of us are not living in a horrible > neighborhoods where you have shooting going on every day and you NEED a gun > for self-defense. If I lived on the south side of Chicago, I would keep a > gun in my house. In that, I will agree completely. I own weapons, I also have children. I'm very cognizant of the possible dangers, and keep those weapons well away from where the kids could get to them. I also have the responsibility to keep it in their minds that guns are VERY dangerous, have had to take the time to teach them what it's like to handle one, and that guns are NEVER the automatic answer to a problem. In fact, gun use can cause more problems than solve them. I don't hold to the use of weapons for home security. Even in BAD neighborhoods, there are other measures than can be taken to increase security, so that a gun only needs to be used when the situation is clear, and no innocent lives put at risk. The above pontificating is all well and fine, but the fact stands that children are still being killed each year through firearm carelessness. I'm not oblivious to that. However, I don't feel that it is others' obligation to penalize me for the irresponsibility of others. -=CyberTech BBS=- PhoneNet @3 CyberNet @1 Your always Welcome From - (810)979-5636 VirtualNet @1810006 OnlineGames\OnlineChat Warren Mi.
