Ok,one of my subscribers told me that Tradewars wasn't working but worked the
previous day. Sure enough, when I tried the game locally and remotely,
nothing happened.  I have known working versions of the game and I tried to
replace the current folder, renaming the old folder so I don't lose player
information. The game simply does not work.  Is it possible that files just
become corrupt over time and it should be re-installed from scratch?  That
appears to be my next option although I hate to lose player information (and
so do the players).
