The proper method is either one of the following:

     Copyright 1995 Adam Ness

     or

     (C) 1995 Adam Ness

The "(C)" is just shorthand for the word copyright.  You must have copyright
the year and who owns the copyright or it's not in proper form.

If you don't register your copyright you may have a hard time proving your
copyright and of course you won't be able to obtain money damages.  Remember
to protect your coyright you have to prosecute violators... It's the same
with patents...
