According to material I have read on STD's, as well as contraception, the success rate of condoms is just about 80%. Some failure is due to manufacturing defects. The majority of failure is due to improper use Some examples of improper use are: Waiting until after sex has started and pulling out to put it on. Age. Carrying them in a wallet for a long time will rub the package and cause wear in the condom. Age again will also cause deterioration of the condom. The success rate of condoms when reliable ones are used properly jumps up to 96%. |
