If guns were not available, people would still commit suicide. If guns were not available, people would still kill each other. Sure, the elimination of guns makes it harder to do. But gun laws will not eliminate all guns. They are available in every other country, too. The punishments for their uses may be more severe. But wishing them to go away by passing laws will have no more effect than wishing away nuclear weapons by passing treaties. They are still around, and the necessary thing is to figure a way of dealing with the EFFECT of that reality. |
