Re: Programing Doors > Does any one have a good idea to program doors, that are easy. I have no > programing exp!. So thats tuff. As far as writing a pure exe file, I couldn't help much there, as I was wanting to do the same thing. However, here recently, I have started on a big project for VADV for a door. Technically it is not a door, because a door actually shrinks out of the BBS software to run. The one I am making actually uses Virtual Script and interfaces with a standalone EXE file on another computer on the same network, and instead of running one instance of the "door" for each node, it runs only one instance for all (up to) 101 nodes (0 to 100). What I am writing is a Multi User Dungeon for Virtual Advanced, which, as with MajorBBS is MajorMUD, this will be called VirtualMUD. It will be the same idea, and to begin with may look identical to MajorMUD, but in the end, as I get ideas, will be its own game and not just a duplication of MajorMUD. Gameplay will be very similar. I had always wanted to write one for Virtual Advanced, so here I am doing it. Right now, on my BBS, you can goto the main menu of the "door", but can't go any further, as I am right now working on the stability of logging in and out, then will work on character creation afterward. People are welcome to login and just test it out, and even try to make it crash (you will know it crashed if it stops responding ) That way I can fix bugs. Just telnet to bbs.chris-co.org and at the main menu type /VMUD. If you happen to get it to crash on you, email me at computer.whiz@chris-co.org and let me know the last thing you did before it stopped responding.
