Over the last 5 years I've been back into the fray, I've noticed alot of
the old SysOp's rejoining the ranks... mainly for the nostalgic part,
some, like me, got tired of the web/spam/virus hell out there. I kinda
use the BBS to pull back into my own little haven.

Personally, I have a couple of regular users, actual users, not SysOp's
checking other boards out... These play my door games for the most
part. I have a couple that pull messages on a regular basis... Then I
have my file hounds <as I call 'em>. For the most part, they use the FTP
side or the web interface. I rarely get uploads, so, all the new files
are one's I'm putting online... <Leaches> I'm just happy the board is
active. It's not putting up any kind of numbers my dialup board did, but,
its used.

I ran a 10 node dialup BBS and on average was pulling 300+ a
day. Compared to the 3-6 a day now... I look at it like this... If you
build it, and its good, they will come. Might be a few years, but, people
will find it. :)

You need to find a "Niche". The problem with this, is that everyone's
trying to find a niche and there are only so many out there. Could be
warez, could be movies, music, online games, artwork, message areas,
IRC, IM... or all of the above. <like me!> :)

It really depends on what you have there, and can afford to toss into this
"Hobby". Some have some old computers they are able to use, with small
HD's, and some have monster new systems, with terabytes of storage
space... Just depends on what you have available. Do a pros vs. cons list
and see what direction you can go then take steps in that direction.

The end result is that you have to be happy with your decision and have a
clear idea in mind, then go for it.
