The number of actual engineers you need for a given operation is usually very low. The fat guy of the PLCs is making lots of kilobucks but he is going to be the only one. The rest of the Engineers in the classroom are going to be working under they qualification. Last time I applied for being a fat dude who ate junk food while controlling 6 000 PLCs there were 300 candidates within 1 hour of the job offer being posted. There was a single vacancy.
