I doubt that NK could do it without someone's help, which would probably be
China (or no one at all... not sure they'd even likely side with NK on many
issues). I have not seen the original for YEARS but my recollection is that
the invading force was somewhat ambigious beyond "Communists."  IIRC, the
first time I saw it I left assuming it was Russia and Cuba but was that
actually spelled out in the movie?
