I don't think you are picturing it right.  They stand close enough you can
feel them breathing on you.  Closer than I would like any stranger to be.
If they could share the same space that I am in, they would.  They have no
sense of personal space or boundaries.

You are thinking they actually stand a sneeze or cough apart... not so!

I can get that.  If I owned a biz that depended on foot traffic, our state
government would have put me out of business by now.  That is, if I was a
mom-and-pop.  If I was a big-box, apparently my store is 100% safe.
