AA>If people would just stay home when they develop symptoms of >cold/flu then "it" wouldn't run rampant. I suppose the only problem with that is that close to 80% of people who get it show no symptoms. It's true that they are less likely to spread it if they are not coughing and sneezing but you may have heard that people yelling at sporting events or singing in church were spreading it as effectively as those who had the more obvious symptoms. AA>There a couple of large chain grocery stores in my town. One of >them stopped the endless wiping-down of the carts after each >return. People just return the carts to the front door where >they are typically stacked up, and the next person just takes >what's there. Yes, how thorough they are here at any of the stores is hit and miss as well. Fortunately it's a little harder to pick up the virus from surfaces than it is from droplets in the air. It's not impossible but it is less likely. AA>If the sick would stay home, "it" would die off before it gets a >chance to keep spreading. In theory, if everyone in the world stayed home for 2 weeks, it would be gone by the end of that time. The only problem with that idea is the ones that came down with a severe case of it would have to be transported to hospital and that would cause extra exposures. Areas that had very high counts of Covid, such as in California, after a large percentage of the population had been vaccinated saw the new case numbers drop by over 60% in a few weeks, long before the vaccine even had time to be fully effective, which takes about 6 weeks. Likely a lot of those had only had a single shot which is more like 55% effective at best, so it sounds like the vaccine is working to some extent even on the newer Variants. It will take a while but it sounds like some progress is being made. --- * SLMR Rob * ** Individualists unite! ** * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (618:250/1) |
