I have heard reports of people getting it again, but I wonder if it is not
just people who never completely got over it the first time.  A work-friend
lost a parent like that... he got better and seemed just fine, then took a
real quick turn and passed quickly after.

That would not surprise me, especially the disappeared part.  People who
think a government that runs everything is good don't realize that not
everyone wants to give up freedom and for a government to stay that much in
control they have to be forced to.
