It is disgusting the way they spin things.

The media seems to be so proud to use the term "efficacy of XX%"
as if to convince the public that is the same thing as the XX%
probabilty of being safe.

But I found this:

"Efficacy is the degree to which a vaccine prevents disease, and
possibly also transmission, under ideal and controlled
circumstances - comparing a vaccinated group with a placebo
group.

"Effectiveness meanwhile refers to how well it performs in the
real world

The media just uses the first term - which is supposed to be
limited to "ideal and controlled" circumstances.
