Asia, specifically China, has been the hotbed of disease development for
centuries, not just in modern times.

I think that the Kung Flu was an accidental release but the "powers that be"
saw it as the perfect vector to try to push all of their batshit (no pun
intended) crazy world control ideas.  You know, never let a crisis go to waste
kinda thing.
