On 03 Jul 20 19:23:56, Mark Hofmann said the following to Sean Dennis: MH> People watching the news in the US is getting fed loads of BS. I always sa MH> "There is reality - and there is what is on the news". Couldn't be more MH> different. Canada is no better. Our mainstream news is going on and on about "systemic racism". Meanwhile, my daughter and I lived in a basement apartment and our upstairs neighbors had just arrived months before we did direct from Nigeria. We used to hang out all the time, their own child was roughly the same age as mine. Never once did the subject of racism, victim-cards or oppression ever come up. Their conversations were mostly about church group, and how the husband was working hard as a baggage handler at Toronto Pearson airport. The wife was mostly stay-at-home though I believe she was taking college courses. Fast forward a couple years - He landed a promotion and they transferred to Edmonton, where last I heard they bought a huge house in the suburbs, have two new cars, benefits/vacation/RRSP retirement fund, two new georgeous children to their family and are extremely happy and well-off.
