Data from March 1996 PC World on DVD: Single layer, single side capacity: 4.7 gigabytes. Maximum capacity: 17 GB Tranfer rate: 1.35 MB/sec. Video Data (Single side, Single layer, MPEG-2): 133 minutes film w/ 3 sets of surround sound tracks and 4 sets of subtitles. Later Plans: A "R" to "G" converter for movies. Write-once disks for 3.8 GB. Rewritable disks with 2.6 GB per side. |
