RE: hello BY: ``Bud Long`` VirtualNET,- #1 AT 1314011 expect CD-ROMs to get cheaper as the 12X CD-ROM and DVD drives come out. RAM is expected to get as cheap as $5 per megabyte. Rumor has it that Intel was trying to play the market by having people upgrade to 16M of RAM or higher with Windows 95. Intel's figures on the sales of Windows 95 was based on Data Quest's numbers which placed sales at 100+ Million copies in 1996, only 40 million copies of Windows 95 where sold (There are 350+ Million Windows users) so Intel has put a surplus of memory chips on the market in the millions. Other companies such as Siemens, NEC, TI, and Goldstar have done the same thing. The result is that RAM got cheaper and these companies lost money. See, Windows 95 is good for something! |
