I am inexperianced and unknowledgable with > CDroms so i need help..this is a good sub to help me with that..see ya! I'd say right now most CDs hold up to 800 megs of data. You can use a CD like a floppy if you have the money to spend on it. Right now writable CD-ROM drivers go for about $1,000. And you can only write to the CD once. You can find blank CDs to write to, but they are relatively difficult to find and aren't as cheap as floppies. Being able to write to a CD and erase it and then copy other data to the CD is a lot more expensive. I haven't seen any prices, but I'm sure they're up there. You can copy data off a CD to your hard drive if you have enough space for the data. For most programs you do need two hard drives in order for it to work because the installation procedures for the program will not install FROM the C: drive. You can fool them though if you have two hard drives. If a second HD was on your D:, then the installation would think that D: was your CD-ROM drive. If you have enough floppies to backup data from a CD, go for it. You just have to make sure that everything is in the correct place (in directories that is) when you try to reinstall it! -=Doomsday=- |
