I think you might be right, but I was under the impression that at least
local network affiliates in the US were under some sort of restriction and
were required to label opinion/editorial/etc. as such.

Local affiliates might still be, but it is obvious the cable news networks,
and the over-the-air networks, are apparently no longer restricted in this
manner.
