Regarding The Subject Of: Speeds? These are your words > Can anyone tell me the difference between a 2X, 4X, 6X, and 8X cdroms? > Is it the speed or quality etc.??? Obviously I assume the higher <8X> > would be better in what way I don't know so tell me , because the # is > higher and so is the price...can anyone out there anywhere explain to me..? The higher the number, the faster the disc rotates and faster transfer rates for the drive... It could take you an hour to load software of a 2x, but 15 min to load off an 8x... The increase in speed also helps in the full motion video and other things that run off the CD-ROM... Later... My Truong This is my response Speed Speed Speed! Pretty soon they are gonna start re-enforcing CD-ROM media with kevelar so the things don't start disintegrating in the drive! Warning Label for 50x CD ROM DRIVE some time in the future. WARNING THIS DRIVE WILL ONLY RUN 50x media at full speed. Please SHIFT THE CD-ROM DRIVE TO LOW SPEED BEFORE USING OLDER MEDIA! FALIURE TO DO SO WILL DAMAGE YOUR DRIVE! Oh And REMEMBER ALLWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN USING THIS DEVICE MEDIA MAY BE HOT AFTER USE, ALLWAYS USE GLOVES TO REMOVE 50x CD's hotgun AC 203 The One On The EAST coast |
