When I was in Canada for a week in 2017, I did not watch too much TV, but I
did have one or two evenings where I found myself watching some.  It was
obvious from the difference in commercials (for McDonald's, for example)
that they were trying to paint Canada as a much more welcome place for
those who are Muslim, as well as those with non-traditional families.

It is difficult to be welcoming of those whose religious views, although
different from conservative Christianity, are still quite conservative
while also pandering to the multiple-gender and the
talking-to-kids-about-adult-situations-is-ok crowds.
