RM> He was told by the power company that it would cost him RM> $100,000 to have a line run to his place, even though he RM> was within 500 feet of power lines on the ground, but they RM> insisted on feeding him power under water instead of RM> burying lines or putting in a couple of poles.. AA>Maybe there were too many rocks or other trees enroute overland? I suppose the problem is the same reason he couldn't build a road to drive to his place. He is working on that, buying a right-of-way, but when he was building that wasn't looking like an option, probably because the neighbours weren't too happy about a new cottage being built relatively close to them in the first place. I believe the original owner passed away so my friend is now dealing with the next generation. The power company would have had to get a right-of-way to run lines overland (or buried) originally as well. AA>Underwater feeds are common to cottagers on many lakes. Yes, my power comes on poles, having been in for decades, but the new lots being sold near me on Georgian Bay all have their lines underwater. AA>It would be nice to have SOME power for some simple things like a water >pump and a phone charger. Yes, we do get used to these things. --- * SLMR Rob * Please hold...
