After looking at my options, I went with a hybrid option. I really, really liked it and, IMHO, it is the only real option if you are going to use a heat pump. With the electric being cheaper than the gas (at that time anyway), it was great. If gas prices had gone way down, there was also a way to override the hybrid and use only the gas heat. It saved me money and also did not dry the air out as much, making it more comfortable.
