Actually, ore and mineral reserves in Spain have been gone for centuries. The Romans considered this place a key strategic point because of mineral reserves, then they used them all. Roman mines are still a turistic attraction but there is not much more ore to be found. Be have coal, but our coal is so notoriously bad that we are importing foreigner coal rather than using up our own. We have some active oil straction, but it is not significant (and the oil is not very good anyway). Some good oil spot was located in the Canary islands, but the government has forbidden to drill it up because of ecological concerns. Same for our litium deposits.
