AW#@>No, actually if all you need is E-mail and World Wide Web, then AW#@>Compuserve and America Online are probably the best. If you want AW#@>InterNet Relay Chat, Telnet, FTP and some other additional services AW#@>you are probably better off with someone who charges a flat rate AW#@>at no more than $40 per month. There are a number of companies AW#@>that will do it for you. I'm not sure where you are located, but AW#@>it's probably better that you use a local company to get local AW#@>phone charges. Yeah...Compuserve's WWW access is nifty. My boyfriend has CIS, and I've used his account a couple of times to check out some Web sites. Delphi might be another option. I've used Delphi...mostly for newsgroups and telnet access, but they *do* have ftp and IRC. They only have a text-based Web browser at this point, although I know they've signed an agreement with Netscape and are supposedly looking at a graphic browser by the end of the year. I've got a local node for Delphi here in the Detroit area...since they use Sprintnet, they have quite a few nodes nationwide. Internet access costs me $23/month (for up to 20 hours...every hour after 20 costs $1.80 each). I've yet to exceed 20 hours in any given month...and Delphi has several offline readers available for dl, so people can minimize their time online with newsgroups and forums at any rate. Delphi also has a couple of writing-related forums (where's Theresa Grant, BTW? I've seen her over on Delphi's version of Writers Workshop--Custom 285). * OLX 2.1 TD * If space is a vacuum, who changes the bag? |
