     Welcome Lori,

     You certainly have a leg up on me.  I was in my late 20s before I
discovered that I could, or wanted to, write.
     Have you looked at a copy of Writer's Market?  You can find a copy in the
library.  It will give you the ins and outs quickly for the basic things.  And
ask lots of questions, it's the fastest way to learn.
