Time to post your goals for the week of 6/24/95. Be sure to post
progress from last week as well. If you are a Writer's Workshop lurker, come
and join us in posting our goals for the week. You will be glad uou did!

Post weekly goals! Give it a try, just once. I promise it will really
help keep you on track with your current projects. Send out the GOAL POST
every week by Saturday. Make it a habit to start posting your goals with
us.

My goals for last week and progress report...

1. Send out another batch of letters to editors.
I was getting ready to sit down and put together another list of
possibles when the mail came and in it was a response from one of the previous
editors I'd written to. I had to put together a nice packet of tear sheets
and mail them off right away. Wish me luck!

2. Make a complete set of business forms.
Yes, as frustrating as it was, I accomplished THIS goal. I often wish I
were an artist because working with clip art can be a pain sometimes.

3. Get WWR ready for its final edit.
Yes! In fact, Patti and I will be going over final corrections today!
I'll be taking the issue to the printer as early as today.

4. Start collecting material for the August issue.
     I need submissions folks!

5. Make a birthday special for my VERY SPECIAL six year old.
What is it that makes a birthday boy suddenly too old to hold his
mother's hand when we're walking? He says he doesn't NEED mom to hold his
hand anymore. But **I** still NEED to hold **his** hand! :-|

My goals for this week are to...

1. Mail out the July issue. If you miss this issue folks, you're going to
miss something very special in the publication's history.

2. Continue trying to secure freelance assignments.

3. Get some housework done.

4. Gear up for a trip to visit my father. :-|

     On a personal note:

I'm very close to closing a regular freelance gig agreement! The editor
sounds very agreeable. He has E-mail so it makes closing the deal faster. I
was asked to send him a packet of tear sheets and I did that right away. He
should get them today.
I'm having a problem getting back a packet of tear sheets I took to a
different local editor. I delivered them in person to his secretary and in my
cover letter, I stated that I would pick them up again. I followed the packet
up with another letter a month later, asking if he'd had a chance to look them
over and if so, could I come and pick up the packet. No reply. So I called
there a couple of days ago, talked to the secretary. She said she'd have him
call me because she didn't know where the packet might be. He didn't call.
Now what? Any suggestions?
The kids have enjoyed a full week of Vacation Bible School. It will
finish tomorrow and they will begin being home all day, every day. As much as
I love my kids, 24 hours a day is a bit much when I'm trying to get some work
done.
Now my father is pressuring me to come for a visit. This is a trip I've
dreaded for quite some time. But it has to be done and I have to start
preparing myself...AND my family. :-|

                    Rhia

                      WRITER'S WORKSHOP PRAYER

The Writer's Workshop is a place where myself and several other
writers of vastly different backgrounds in writing, hope to come to
discuss the ins and outs of the writing business. This is a place we
hope will become home to writers who take what they do seriously, be
they beginners or seasoned professionals; people who want to learn and
share with others.
We encourage everyone to share the rejections and of course the
highlights, so that we can celebrate with you. This should be a place of
sharing and a place of laughter, NOT A PLACE TO SHOW OFF OR CONDEMN!
Everyone is welcome to share their views, but PLEASE, NO PUBLIC BASHING!
(Use E-mail for that. <G>;)

                     WELCOME TO WRITER'S WORKSHOP!
