Umm.. could it be that it might have been resident already?!?!?
I have also heard how McAfee isn't all that great.  I saw a demo on this at a
pc expo where what McAfee does is extract files and while it's scanning, a
viri would ride piggy-back till it's done scanning. .then when you run that
exe file. whammo.. you've been hit.  He showed all the different aspects of
it.  Even loaded in a few viri.   Of course he was selling a much better
product.. the only thing is.. one would have to extract every compressed file
manually and then scan them.   But good luck to everyone.  Btw, I am getting
FREE AOL cd's.  Are they infected as well?  Not that I ever plan on signing
on with them.  But just curious.
