Can anyone tell me what it generally cost to ride the InterNet. I've heard that it's free and all you pay is long distance charges. But, I've also heard there is a flat rate. I would like to join and converse with more writers but don't want to invest in software packages that end up costing more then I would like to spend (in terms of montly fee's and various access charges). So, if anyone can assist me with this I would greatly appreciate it. J. P.S. Is the only way to access the InterNet VIA online services, e.g. America Online, Compuserve, etc., or is there a more dirct and less costly route?
