Thanks for the reply.  I don't know the difference between libel and slander,
but I think you're correct.  Yes, I'd like to use some famous LIVING pool
players in my story, like Minnesota Fats.  "She'd grown up taking private
lessons from the best.  She even remembered the first time she played with
Minnesota Fats and had to use a stool to reach the table."  Sort of thing I'd
like to use.
