Snobbish?  I guess you could use that word <g>  I think people start to
think you're *greedy* if you express the desire to get paid for your
work!

I enjoy working on campaigns...but after a while, more and more people
begin asking you to *volunteer* on *their* campaign.
Any time you *really* commit to working with a candidate, it becomes a
real time consumer.  I don't even want to talk about how much time I
spent managing the last city commission race I took on...and the amount
of written material attached to a race can be unbelievable (press
releases, candidate questionnaires, brochures, letters, poll pieces...)
Oh...and I don't want to talk about the fact that you often end up
babysitting the candidate day and night...and I don't want to talk about
how I ended up babysitting *two* candidates last time, after agreeing to
manage *one* campaign...
NO, I don't want to talk about it <sigh>

I'm beginning to look at *payment* as a way of prioritizing my time <g>
I have two *paying* jobs...they come first.  I often have time for
little else.

RRD#@>business up and running.  She actually has three companies and I've been
RRD#@>doing letterheads and envelopes to save her money until she gets going.

You *are* keeping samples of everything, right?  That's one of the best
benefits you can get from work like this...samples...

You're not kidding...a monthly publication takes a *lot* of time to do
correctly!

I've even considered taking the Chamber newsletter to a 10 times per
year schedule (monthly, except for combined issues for July/August and
November/December).  Any thoughts on this?
Money and time are major considerations here...the Chamber is struggling
financially, and I'm particularly pressed for time during the summer.  I
always resisted doing less than twelve issues because we had to really
overcome an inconsistency problem with the newsletter (it was a
"monthly" that only went out twice in the year before I took it over)
and an image problem with the Chamber.  We also have a golf outing in
July that we needed to flog as it is our major fundraiser (this isn't
really a consideration any more, as the outing now sells out by May!)
I'm wondering if it may be time to rethink the schedule after five and a
half years of doing it on a 12 issue/year basis...
