August Abolins | Nick Andre | bad news for hdd? |

Hello Nick Andre! NA> I haven't "reinstalled" Windows or any apps for years now. Everything NA> here is hot-imaged. The XP BBS and Windows 10 computers can all be NA> restored without breaking a sweat. Same with the dozens of NA> critical-systems at my job... reinstalling anything would be completely NA> out of the question. Likewise.. I have always had a fondness for images. That has simplified restorting to a pc that might have needed a new HDD on the same HW. NA> The idea is that with a hot-image you now have some flexible options, [...] Yup. The plan is to first clone the original HDD onto the SDD, resize the current C partition from its current 35GB to something like 60GB, and then do a similar resize operation on the H partition, and then drop it into my T60 laptop. NA> Just some ideas... but "reinstall Windows" to me is absolutely hilarious. Right. That ain't gonna happen. At best, I would consider migrating to Win7 and take advantage of TRIM. -- ../|ug --- OpenXP 5.0.51 * Origin: (618:500/23.10) |
