Hello thecivvie, Sunday July 11 2021 21:05, you wrote to me: t> I want to get one of them. Maybe then do away with some of the Pi, or t> find another use for them I have a use for one of my older Pis: a Ham Clock. It's a specialized setup for amateur radio operators that shows several pieces of information that we hams use in our hobby. https://www.clearskyinstitute.com/ham/HamCloc... has more info on it. I am thinking about setting up my 3B Pi for that. I'm also considering getting the latest RPi 4 to set up a private VPN using OpenVPN for myself so I can work on the BBS securely via VNC from remote. More info about doing this here: https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-create-a-... I am waiting on most of these projects because I need to do a few things and obtain things like a new cheap monitor for the Ham Clock (mine are all dying). So many projects. <G> As for the HPE, I bought it off of eBay for $114 shipped from the Atlanta area direct. The fan was going in the one I bought so the company sent me a good working heatsink (not cheap) for free. I wish I'd bought two of these then when I had the money! Mine has a quad-core 2.4gHz Xeon CPU in it. Not the fastest but very reliable and it handles tasks quite well. I'd like to get a HP Z800 workstation for my personal computer ... they're big, heavy, older, but built like damn tanks. I admit to a HP bias in computers since I was a factory-trained tech for their business-class desktops, laptops, and workstations. I know HPs inside and out and know how to find parts for them easy. -- Sean ... Friendly fire ain't. --- GoldED/2 3.0.1 * Origin: Outpost BBS // bbs.outpostbbs.net:10123 (618:618/10) |
