Slackware actually has something along the lines of four or five different packaging systems you can use. SlackBuilds (aka SBo) is the most common one I've seen and it works well. SBo doesn't have dependency resolving directly available through 'sbopkg', a third-party front-end for SBo, but there is a script called 'sbodeps' that can indeed use dependency resolution if you so want. Part of the Slackware philosophy is not to modify any upstream packages and to build things directly if at all possible, but if you have something like webkitgtk, it's usually better just to grab a package unless you have a very fast machine.
