It's possible, for sure.  VOIP has the potential, it just hasn't taken off as
it should.  VOIP and cellular services rely on the well-established and
antiquated landline technologies to complete calls around the world.
Businesses still use landline or copper-based data services, which tie into
the landline network. Only recently have businesses started to embrace
fiber to the premise ethernet service for phone as well as internet; instead
of copper-based (traditional landline) technologies and services.

I think we're going to see some new, innovative technologies with 5G that
will bypass the old network and create a new dynamic one.

Let's just hope it doesn't cook us all. lol
