I'm tempted to work > on something that would pull messages out of VADV & sync them with a MySQL (o > other modern) database, rather than hooking PHP into the VADV databases. It > would also allow running the web interface on a separate system from the BBS. I've thought about this myself. If I had to time/knowledge to program I would make Virtual Adavanced a "framework" of communications. What I mean by this is a revamp of VNET which drops off files, messages, and the like seperate from any other program including mysql. If there was the time and resources networking and message/file storage should be done in VA/NET itslef and not in mysql. VNET/VA should just be a backbone of intercommunication. what you add on is up to you. Then, as plug-ins and modules, other programmers can write whatever they want. PHP front ends, games, customized messaging systems, etc.. Basicly VNET "the backbone of the system" I think should be written in such a way to allow people to network without the use of google, yahoo, or other search engines by using the node and dump approach which Roland originally made. Basicly "smart node mirrioring" Don't know if this makes much sense to anyone but there you go :-b gman www.asirta.com - Networked Information Portal Community - Creativity - Self Sufficiency http://www.asirta.com - telnet://www.asirta.com |
