I think that is based on the belief of the power of suggestion... some would say that you can causethings to happen to the human body by a strong enough suggestion. Faith healers work on this premise (not that I believe in that it is just an example of where the idea came from). There have been stories of people under hypnosis exhibiting burn marks after touching something that is room temperature, because it has been suggested to them that it was hot enough to burn them... I don not know how true any of this is, but the point is that if you believe in these things, it is easy to believe that a dream that your mind concieves as being real could have an effect on your body... It is the ultimate way of phyching yourself out... kind of like scaring yourself to death... are there any documented cases of that? (I am curious) Selina |
