               Eternal Schematic

               Grim reminders of days gone by -
               Lines and shadows beneath the eye.
               Those youthful days of endless hopes,
               Playing long odds and walking tightropes.

               My strength ebbs and health is fleeting -
               Into the shadow years my bodie's retreating.
               Although my brain still goes at a youthful clip
               Without any detection of a slip.

               Why then the bodies slow demise
               When the brain still dreams of crystal clear skys?
               Why doesn't the Maker let it end together,
               Brain and body on an invisible tether?

               But just one part declining seems such a waste.
               Maybe the eternal schematic was designed in haste...
               The holiest men see only visions of ghosts -
               Maybe that's all that's left of our god-like hosts,
               Drifting through space, silent and lonely,
               ethereal, perpetual brainpans only.
